Photographs and digital art by John Olalekan Durojaye · Lightbox Gallery, LCB Depot, Leicester · 25 September – 10 October 2026
Aworan — the Yoruba word for image — is a body of work built over twelve years of practice between Lagos and the United Kingdom. This Leicester showing brings around twenty-five framed photographic and digital works to the Lightbox Gallery, extending the conversation begun with my solo exhibition at Atirira Gallery, Lagos, and introducing a UK audience to contemporary African photography.
It opens deliberately at the start of UK Black History Month 2026. Entry is free throughout, and everyone is welcome — come for the launch night, or drop in any weekday.
Nothing formal — just a name so I know roughly how many to expect on the night.
31 Rutland Street, Leicester LE1 1RE — in Leicester's Cultural Quarter, a short walk from Leicester railway station and the city centre. The Lightbox Gallery sits on the ground floor; the café is next door.
